The Lazy Person’s Guide to Losing Weight

Many people assume that in order to lose weight, you must give up all of your favorite foods and work out five days a week. You've undoubtedly tried that approach and failed more times than you'd care to admit, so here's a quick guide to lazy weight loss success.

Get some water

Plenty of it! Water not only helps you lose weight by keeping your organs healthy and cleaning away impurities, but it also makes you feel fuller longer, causing you to eat less calories.

Snooze more

When you sleep, you don't eat, and the less energy your body needs from caloric foods, the better. Attempt to get 8 to 9 hours per night, or at the very least, 1 to 2 more than you typically do.

30-minute daily walks

Call your mother, contemplate your life's meaning, or listen to music. You can start to feel the results by simply staying active for 30 minutes each day.

Keep your coffee and dessert, but consume them early

Don't deprive yourself if you're desiring that piece of cake or cup of coffee. Just take them in the morning rather than straight before bed. A poor night's sleep caused by sugar and caffeine may result in overeating the following day.

Sneaky drinks

Don't drink your calories away. If you choose food over a beverage, you'll feel more satisfied. If water is ineffective, try adding lemon, lime, or even orange zest for flavor. If at all possible, order an iced tea without added sugar.

Eliminate alcohol

Despite the calories listed on the label, your body does not easily metabolize alcohol. Alcohol slows your metabolism, inhibits testosterone, which burns fat, and turns into insulin, which keeps the pounds on. In essence, it feeds your body's need to store fat. Give up drinking until you achieve your goal, and then reintroduce it gradually.

Cut the portion size

Although the psychology underlying it appears unimportant, it works. If your plate appears to be half full, you will feel full; if it appears to be full, you will feel starving. In order to fill your stomach and reduce the size of the plate, fill it up and help you lose weight around your waist.

Replace high calorie oils

Try using a nonstick cooking spray in place of cooking oils when sautéing or pan-frying meals. Depending on how long you hold down the spray button, these sprays only add a few calories. Typically, cooking sprays deliver about 15 calories for every two seconds of spraying.
